Build up to the 05/12/11

I still don't know what was more hectic and crazy, the build up to the wedding or the build up to starting the trip. It all started with our November Christmas day on 20/11/11 with my family and involved buddy coming into the room dressed up as Santa reindeer helper. Mum made a great spread which included turkey, beef and pork which left us both struggling to do anything other than lay down. (thanks to everyone for our earlier Christmas presents).

The next two weeks involved many nights out eating rubbish and increasing my ever growing waistline (the drinking involved probably didn't help either). Over the two weeks we tried to touch base with as many people as we could which was really hard. No body told me it would be so mentally draining.

One of the final parts of the build up was packing the rucksacks. I have to credit gem on this one as I was expecting tears and tantrums on her part. I was absolutely shocked when she shouted down the stairs all done within one hour of her starting (who stole gem). I was even more surprised when hers was less filled than mine and also weighed less.

Here's what I packed
7 x boxers 5 x socks
6 x t shirts 1 x short sleave shirt
2 x shorts 2 x board shorts
2 x flip flops 1 x Chuck Taylor's
1 x water proof jacket 2 x zip up hoddies
1 x basketball vest (gem loves it ha ha) 1 x England shirt (roll on the euro's)
1 x 1982 villa shirt 1 x towel
1 x tablet pc 1 x Nintendo ds
1 x wash bag 1 x phone
